A PLACE TO KILL SETS JUNE 5 DEBUT

Filter’s Richard Patrick and There is No Us’ Jim Louvau’s Trap Metal Project Delivers a Ferocious, Future-Focused Sound Fueled by Chaos, Aggression, and Unfiltered Emotion

(June 4, 2026 — Los Angeles) A Place To Killis the brand-new brainchild of Richard Patrick, legendary vocalist of Filter and former member of Nine Inch Nails, alongside Jim Louvau, vocalist of There Is No Us and a renowned photographer and acclaimed music video director. The project fuses industrial trap metal with raw hostility, delivering an unapologetically aggressive modern sound that rejects nostalgia in favor of something entirely forward-looking. The self-released EP will be available digitally and as a KiTalbum, which combines physical and digital music, artwork, and video as a pre-order on June 5.  www.aplacetokill.com

Their debut seven-song EP, APTK, was produced by Patrick in his Los Angeles studio and stands among the most intense industrial releases in recent years. Anchored by the explosive lead single “Jet Engine” and an equally chaotic, tension-filled music video, the EP showcases a volatile sonic landscape driven by crushing electronics, trap-inspired rhythms, and relentless dual vocals.

“Jet Engine” will make its debut on SiriusXM’s Octane Test Drive June 4.

Patrick and Louvau trade vocal duties throughout the release, pushing far beyond the familiar structures of their previous projects to create a sound that is fierce, untamed, and future-focused.

“I originally saw Filter live when I was in high school during the Short Bus era, and I immediately became a fan of Rich’s voice,” recalls Louvau. “He had such a gnarly scream, but every word was crystal clear.”

The duo first crossed paths in 2008, when Louvau interviewed Patrick before a Filter show. Years later, Patrick attended There Is No Us’ second-ever performance at The Roxy in West Hollywood,, where Louvau’s blistering live performance left a lasting impression.

“We would always talk about starting a project together whenever we spoke or saw each other,” Louvau says.

That collaboration began to take shape when Louvau contributed backing vocals to Filter’s 2020 track “Murica.”  Now, with A Place To Kill, the pair fully unleashes a shared vision rooted not in revisiting the past but confronting the future head-on.

“When I started this band, the music was meant as a tribute to the raw hostility of humanity,” says Patrick. “It was heavy, confrontational, and honest. When it came time to find the right voice, I thought back to working with Jim on the Filter track ‘MURICA.’ His voice was absolutely explosive — a pure noise machine with power and presence I couldn’t ignore. That’s when I knew I had to ask him to front A Place To Kill.”

Each track on APTK blends jagged electronics, pulverizing rhythms, and raw vocal intensity that shifts between searing aggression and controlled menace. The EP deliberately avoids conventional song structures, favoring a harsh and unpredictable soundscape engineered to provoke and challenge listeners.

“The creation of these songs was such an organic process because we had so much inspiration simply from existing in a world filled with uncertainty,” Louvau explains.

“This world has turned into a nightmarish hellscape,” Patrick adds. “We figured if it’s going to burn this bright and this loud, it deserves a soundtrack to match. That’s why Jim and I created A Place To Kill — music for the chaos we’re living in.”
